| One cannot even begin to understand and carryout meaningful research without a means of clarifying the mind, replenishing the soul, or just plain getting another view of life. If all you do is the same old thing, day in and day out, then the mind starts to channel in not such a good way. On this page I share some of my "mind clarifying" activities. I've taken up skiing once again. After 12 years of other activities I'm now back on the mountain and loving it. I am the Director of Educational Outreach for Northwest Ski Club Council (NWSCC), as well as their webmaster. I have recently become a supporter of Oregon Adaptive Sports (OAS) and have written about the work these fine folks are doing, as well as others in the Northwest and Maine. That article is here. I also belong to a small ski club (Mountain High) based in Portland, Oregon. I've learned that size does not matter as much as enthusiasm. These folks are quite active. Visit their web site and take a look at all the activities, for skiing, hiking, golf, river trips, parties, the list goes on. The trips that they sponsor, either through the club or in partnership with various regional clubs, offer good value. I highly recommend getting active in one or more outdoor clubs. |
| My love is flying. I am a GA pilot and absolutely love what
flying does for my concentration and lifting of my spirit. Currently I am flying the plane on the left below. When not flying,
I enjoy building the airplane on the right. Click on either picture and you'll be taken another web site of mine that
documents this activity. Hopefully soon I'll have up the other interests,
skiing, woodworking and gardening. (Hard to imagine life before the web.
Without it, one wouldn't be able to share such thoughts or experiences with
so many. What hubris to do so! But, what fun!) |
